Leading Hair Transplant Surgeon First to Adopt Revolutionary ARTAS System in Southeast

The Latest in Hair Transplantation Technology Arrives in South Florida This Month

BOCA RATON, Fla., Jun 26, 2012-Leading hair transplant surgeon and Immediate Past-President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) Dr. Glenn Charles today announced an acquisition of the groundbreaking ARTAS(R) System for use in his Boca Raton-based practice. Developed by Restoration Robotics, Inc., the ARTAS System is the first and only FDA cleared, physician controlled, computer-assisted technology for harvesting follicular units directly from the scalp. By utilizing sophisticated digital mapping and precision robotics, the ARTAS System delivers beautiful, natural-looking results in a minimally invasive manner.

“When it comes to hair restoration, I’m very committed to staying on the leading edge of new research, methodology, technology and assist-tools,” commented Dr. Charles. “With the ARTAS System, I’m offering my patients the latest technology combined with a proven technique to permanently treat their hair loss.”

“Dr. Charles is a dedicated hair transplantation surgeon. He prides himself on giving his patients the most undetectable hair transplantation results; therefore, we believe the ARTAS System is a great fit for his practice and patients,” said Jim McCollum, President & CEO of Restoration Robotics. “We are pleased that our innovative technology is now available to patients in the Southeast Florida/Boca Raton area.”

Hair Loss by the Numbers

According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) , at least 35 million men in the United States are affected by male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia. By age 50, approximately 50% of men will experience some degree of appreciable hair loss.

Hair transplantation moves healthy, functioning follicles to the areas of the patient’s scalp most impacted by baldness for more dramatic results. New hair continues to grow over the course of a full year, resulting in a gradual change in the patient’s appearance over time. Hair transplantation is the only permanent solution for hair loss.
